BENTONITE FOR WINEMAKING

Usage of bentonite in winemaking is a modern technology in the wine industry for clarification of wines. It is an effective way to improve the quality and price of a product. When bentonite is added in the wine in the optimal amount, flakes form and settle to the bottom and carry particles of turbidity with them.

Bentonite has a strong swelling in water, as well as the ability to exchange reaction, which plays a major role in the process of wines fining, in which the wine is released from proteins, amino acids, enzymes. Thus, the wine becomes stable and transportable. When using bentonite, the quality of the product remains unchanged: aroma and excellent wine aftertaste are preserved. And most importantly – bentonite for winemaking is easy to use and completely harmless to human health.

Bentonite is also added to the tirage mixture to improve the conditions of remuage in the production of champagne. Currently, bentonite is in active use for home brew clarification.
